Day 13
No street names in Japan
GPS-Position: N 32°, 07.038'; E 131°, 31.992'
Place: Takanabe
Etmal: 21 km
Total: 293 km
After I have waited in vain another night for spring (- 8°C),
the sun is glowing. First of all I don't find the right street,
because normally you don't have street names in Japan.
Furthermore, even the main roads rarely have names, since
everybody knows where he is! So I find myself on a mega
main road No. 10 - an endless stream of traffic is rolling
car
at car in both directions. During one hour (= 4 km) I'm
wondering wether the individuality of the Japanese results
in having a white car, then finally, road 302 is found.
At the same time one street further on, I meet idyll
and rural loneliness, unbelievable. (Please note: in Japan,
houses get numbers when they are built, and this creates
of course a hullabaloo. The postman usually must know his
clients and if he's ill, they don't get their mail!)
