Day 15
The "vultures" are already waiting
GPS: N 32 °, 23.725 ' E 131 °, 37.971 '
Place: Hyuga
Etmal: 20 km
Total: 338 km
When I have just been counting 23.473 trucks and a half (half
of the truck has passed me), it begins to rain. That's it:
no mountains on Kyushu, and I fall immediately asleep. As
yesterday it was so "nice" to walk on road No. 10, today I
do another 20 km. I'm afraid ther's no other way. This road
will be my destiny (no mountains!) for the 70 km to Saiki
(shit!). The town Hyuga ends where the next town begins: Nabeoka,
and moreover, they have four-lane highways, perfect, isn't
it? In this moment I realize what we are doing to ouselves
with this traffic...! Suddenly three buzzards circle over
the highway, is it a sign? The "vultures" are already waiting,
but I hope not for me. With sooty face and legs and a latent
carbon monoxide poisoning I reach my "last" beach on Kyushu
where I am camping. I am just fighting with my foul-smelling
clothes washing them on the beach when more and more children
arrive wondering at the camping traveller. They teach me Japanese
and other people of this marvelous bay passing by are interested
in me as well. I have talked to one of them about the advantage
of such a bay with a fishing port compared to Sashimi. Before
nightfall he comes over and just giving me a three-course
meal he disappears grinning. Maguro-Sashimi (raw dark red
tuna fish), boiled king prawns and a sheet with Udon (Hmmm
... delicious mushrooms, eggs, meat, sweet potatoes stewed
in stock...). Incredible!
