Day 22
"Everything is going to be alright!"
GPS: N 33 °, 02,050 ' E 133 °, 01.697 '
Place: Ogata
Etmal: 23 km
Total: 489 km
After yesterday and during the last night, heaven fell down
on my head in the truest sense of the word, a cock wakes me
up at 5.00 a.m. and tries one real hour to kill the darkness
crowing like someone suffering from cancer of the larynx in
the final stage. Then finally at 6.00 a.m., I hear the official
wake-up call from hidden loudspeakers... It still pours and
somehow frustrated, I am cooking a noodle soup. In Japan you
must slurp noodles, as otherwise you will have them everywhere
but not in your mouth (at least only with rod). This belongs
to the usual table manners as well as sniffling (hot soup,
cold weather, dripping nose). Cleaning your nose is forbidden,
because only pigs do that. Therefore please note: slurping
and sniffing are always good! In the evening I am already
23 km far away. Meanwhile blue sky, the sun has been shining
again for two hours. This time my camp is located between
marshy rice fields and I am just coming out of an Onsen (like
a Sento, the only difference is that the boiling water is
from the volcanic earth) enjoying pancake with egg and crabs,
deep-fried octopus tentacles in beer coat and small fishes
sandwiched in a thick-liquid marinade of honey, soy and sesame.
The moon is just rising - everything is going to be alright!
