Day 25
"The town of the grandmas"
GPS: N 33°, 23.139 ' E 133°, 16.517 '
Place: Sasuka
Etmal: 24 km
Total: 559 km
After the icy morning has gone over into in a warm and sunny
day, I can finally leave the boring main road and take a little
used country road along the sea. The sudden silence and
idyl after the traffic terror makes me feel like in heaven.
Tiny fishing villages go over into each other, and at the
waterline
you can find a lot of people working in the tideland and hammering
the cliffs with rakes, hooks, shovels to collect cockles,
oysters and snails. Most of them are grandmas as
old as the hills who are incredibly tiny and sometimes have
so crooked backs that they almost look like a question mark.
But they are always in a good mood and with a gay and toothless
smile show me proudly their "catch", before they
are jogging away with their walkers. I am camping in a
harbour before Kochi, again I can't read the name: A Kanji
looks like a plus/minus, the other like pick-a-stick after
an earthquake.
