Day 4
Hot tea and roasted fish
GPS-Position: N 31°, 16.376'; E 130°, 47.527'
Starting Point: 5 km to the north of Nejime
Etmal: 23 km
Total: 89 km
"You are only as cold as you feel, but if you stop feeling, you
have frozen to death." (Dawson: the Hot Arctic)
Anyway, I'm still alive but shivering when I wake up in the
middle of night. The wind has gone, but outside a violent sleet
comes down. I must look for the tick sleeping bag...!
In the morning it stops raining, thank God! The mountains have

got again white caps. I'm leaving the Kagoshima bay for the
pacific cost crossing a man-made landscape of not yet
cultivated rice fields. In Kooyama I notice that the town is too
big to pass it before night falls. Just in the moment when
I'm pitching my tent by the riverside, a man comes along and
offers me hot green tea and roasted freshwater fish.
We are chatting until it becomes dark...Life can be so

wonderful...!
