Day 56
Japanese phenomenons - part two
GPS: N 35 °, 13.739 ' E 138 °, 31.047 '
Place: Toschima
Etmal: 18 km
Total: 1,269 km
If you are walking across the rural idyls of Japan and feel hungry, then you urge to eat. If there isn't anything to eat, you will ask for the next store. After more than 1,200 km in Japan, this procedure is still a pleasure for me. As you are familiar with the lack of information, you will ask not only for a store (shopu) but also for a Mise, then for a Kombini and finally for
a supa maaketo. The people come together to help you and
of course to gape at the stranger with the backpack. 5 people, 5 information, 5 directions and everything is wrong! Today I
ask a postman. He's very kind and even gets a plan out of his little red plastic suitcase fixed on the motorbike. He's turning the leaves until he finds a Kombini and shows it on the 1:10.000 map. Still 3 km. OK, many thanks, great! Then I go
on and after 50 m (in words fifty meters!!!) there's the next store! This is a phenomenon in Japan you cannot explain.
Not matter what you ask for; you always get a complicated answer ... hm?
