Day 64
The
full programme and African heat
GPS: N 36 °, 23.117 ' E 138 °, 15.667 '
Altitude: 460 m
Place: Ueda
Etmal: 21 km
Total: 1,455 km
At 4.15 a.m. the banging of toy torpedos wakes me up, that's
what I'm thinking. When I look dozily out of my tent, old
men
are already out and about and are driving with metal hammers
on bowls, this is the reason for the noise. This game is called
Maretto or pseudo-golf. Looks like cross golf with hammer
and bowls, if only it wouldn't be so early in the morning...
At 9 a.m. the heat is burning quite brutally, fortunately
I find a way on the river where obviously groups of racing
cyclists are practicing for the "torture of France".
Maybe I find a shady place and I ask for water ... After a
little while the friendly Japanese comes back with a tub full
of ice for me... By the
end of the day I'm camping near sports facilities and want
to relax when a gaggle of nature freaks worm the story out
of me why I walk across Japan. Then, I really would like to
eat something, but a smart, young policeman on a scooter comes
along for a small talk and green tea. Finally, I can finish
my work and I pitch into sushi, Sashimi, chicken's legs, roasted
fish, mushrooms, tomatoes, black root salad and alga salad.
P.S.: and right afterwards the sake... so long!
