Apart from the coldness unusual for Kyushu, the weight of the backpack during the first weeks has of course been a torture
to me. Once my body noticed what it has to suffer from, it has
fought tooth and nail carrying anything. I have got footsore
and my shoulders, backs and hips hurt. But I can live with
these pains meeting everyday people who are always
friendly and ready to help and moreover show me their real
joy about a foreign guy walking across their country.
Pitching a tent in the forest is almost impossible, unless
you want to stub a piece of jungle. Moreover, the bamboo is
sprouting and sometimes it grows half a meter per night!!!
Therefor it's o.k. for me to camp nearby a small town or
road, as starting from 9 p.m. the sidewalks are lifted up
and silence falls.
Provided that you find shops on the way, food is real
inspiration, but I will tell you more later on.
