There are only a few things a Japanese is afraid of, of course except for the "Lunatic Kim". First of all they don't turn the light of their cars in a tunnel, even if the tunnel is unlighted. Maybe they are afraid of meeting the Kami (ghosts) of her forefathers. Furthermore, they must be scared for their cars (in Japan you could say "my home is my car") to be switched off. They do nearly everything while the car is running: shopping, walking, flirting, sleeping, reading or sitting there "just for fun" and
doing nothing. Moreover, smoking is said to be healthy in Japan. Almost everybody smokes everywhere and the cigarette machines are as big as fridges in America.
