Day 9
Tunnels
are stupid!
GPS-Position: N 31°, 35.580'; E 131°, 24.678'
Place: Nichinan on the beach
Etmal: 24 km
Total: 205 km
Instead of my nice, quiet and lonesome mountain road No. 3,
I had to live with the national road No. 220 (like a highway).
After a hot day (+ 28°C), spring rain and tunnels are
now on
the plan (tunnels are stupid!). Of course, there are foot
and
cycle ways beside the 220 and every few kilometres you
can find a picnic area with palms, prickly pears and agaves.
But even the roaring of the surf cant' keep up with the mountains.
After the last tunnel on this day I'm looking at a
small bay with a white sandy beach and palms under which I
strike my camp directly at the coast. A tiny grandma who's
sitting not far away on a wall peeling carrots comes over
and
gives me three oranges. Humph!? Later on I am washing
all my clothes, because I really don't smell good any more.
The hammering of the surf lulls me to sleep...
